I 2010 blev Thomas Sieverts ny præsident for Europan Europe. Thomas Sieverts (1934) er tysk architect og planlægger og er en anerkendt teoretiker og forfatter til bogen Cities without cities: An interpretation of the Zwischenstadt som beskæftiger sig med den nutidige europæiske by. Bogen har siden lagt navn til begrebet mellembyen. Thomas Sieverts har endvidere været direktør og ansvarlig for udviklingen International Building Exhibition (IBA), Emscher Park.

In 2010 Thomas Sieverts became new president of Europan Europe. Thomas Sieverts (1934) is a German architect and urban planner and a well know theorist and author of the book "Cities without cities: An interpretation of the Zwischenstadt" which looks at the contemporary European city. The term Zwischenstadt refers to areas a which are neither city nor countryside and can best be described as sprawl. Thomas Sieverts also worked as a director for the International Building Exhibition (IBA), Emscher Park.
